Well, my reader stats would indicate that you have all noticed my absence. Two weeks ago I peaked at 123 readers in one day, and today there were three. I suppose I deserve it for ignoring my blog in favor of sleep, movies, and cuddling with Kevin.
Our holidays went well. I bitch and moan about not getting enough hours at work, and my karma came back to bite me in the ass when a co-worker realized that she had two weeks of vacation time to use before the end of the year. She asked to take off the two weeks surrounding Christmas, which just happened to be the two work weeks during which Kevin would be visiting. At least my paychecks were nice.
Despite my mom's drunken attempts to sabotage my carefully planned Christmas Eve dinner, it was a complete success. I cooked my first prime rib, and I must say that it turned out to be delicious despite any kind of real guidance as to what exactly I was doing.
Kevin admitted to me that he actually had fun buying my Christmas presents, and said that if he had been able to afford it, he would have spent more money on me. This gives me hope that by the time he's ready to propose to me, he will have reconsidered $300 as the most he will ever spend on an engagement ring.
When I opened his presents after dinner on Christmas Eve, it became apparent to me why he enjoyed the shopping so much: He bought me a portable DVD player. This means that his Christmas and birthday shopping will be much easier from this point on, since he is fluent in the language of "DVD". He's so cute sometimes that it hurts.
Unable to spend as much money on him as he spent on me, I inundated him with small gifts like cans of Monster XXL, packets of neat Kool-Aid flavors unavailable in Canada, and comic-book-hero-themed pencil toppers. I also gave him the special editions of War of the Worlds, The Professional, Memento, and Blade: Trinity. He already had Blade: Trinity, so I kept this one for myself and replaced it with the widescreen version of Madagascar. He doesn't know yet that I've done this.
Christmas day was spent doing a lot of driving. We were up by 7:00 A.M. and my little car made it over the pass with no trouble. It doesn't like going up hills, but we didn't mind taking it slow.
Kevin got to meet a lot of my extended family, which was the main purpose of his spending the holiday here (that, and I couldn't afford to take the time off of work). It wasn't as relaxing or as fun as it would have been at his mom and dad's but at least it wasn't an overnight trip, and we managed to avoid having to deal with this issue.
The rest of our visit was nice, but much, much too short.
How was your holiday? What did you get for Christmas?

Well, there's no getting around it. Christmas is three days away.
I think my plans are pretty solid, but some nasty weather could change everything. I'm picking up Kevin at the Greyhound station in six hours and after some shopping in E-burg we're going to see "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire". No, we haven't seen it yet. Yes, we know we're the only two people on Earth who haven't. Well, we recruited a few other people to not see it until they could go with us, so all in all there are about five of us. We'll join the rest of the population at about 10:00 tonight. We're excited.
Mom and I picked up an 11-pound prime rib for Christmas Eve dinner, and it is beautiful. To accompany the lovely rack of beef I'll also be preparing some garlic butter shrimp, wasabi mashed potatoes, artichokes with drawn butter, tarragon carrots, and maybe some kind of pasta for those who aren't keen on wasabi.
I still have to buy gifts for the men in my family. I have enough mark. leftovers for my step-mom and my sisters (Kevin's bringing an assortment of chocolates from Canada for my mom), but I don't have anything just lying around the house that my dad or my nephew would like. And I have no clue what to get them. I'm sure I'll figure it out.
I spent 6 hours cleaning last night and I still have a couple hours of tidying and vacuuming to do, but I'm so sore and unmotivated that I'm sure I'll leave it to the last minute. We don't have to leave to pick up Kev until 3:00 or 3:30, so I'll put it off a few more hours.
Happy Holidays!

That of the male is perfect, and that of the female is perfect.
Kevin knows a girl who does not like her boyfriend to touch her down there. This includes oral sex. Now, I think this is weird, and to me it totally screams, "I DON'T LIKE MY VAGINA!" I'll bet this is a girl who has never masturbated a day in her life, nor had an orgasm.
This perplexes me. How can you not like a part of your body? Especially one that has potential to provide such pleasure, and that you have no capacity to change? I can see being unhappy with your thighs, or your butt, things that can be improved through hard work and discipline, but your vagina? There is no diet that will make your vagina more attractive.
At what point will people get over being self-conscious and just learn that they are the way they are? They can accept it, they can change it, or they can spend their whole lives worrying what other people think about it.
Which category are you in?

Kevin has this mentality that he's going to dress how he wants, and if he goes on a job interview and they think he looks too sloppy, that's their problem. But as far as I can tell, if he goes on a job interview wearing cross trainers and cargo pants and they give the job to someone else, it's his problem. Sure, it's not fair that a company will give a job to someone who's better dressed but maybe doesn't have the same qualifications, but that's the way the corporate world works. If a company has a casual dress code, you can dress in sneakers after you get the job, but don't figure that a casual dress code means you can wear whatever you want to the interview; you still have to make a good first impression.
Don't get me wrong, I love him the way he is and I'm not trying to change him, I'm just trying to help him get a step ahead, since he's been having trouble finding a good job since I met him almost two years ago. We all know I'm not exactly a fashion icon, but 9 times out of 10 I know what's appropriate and what's not.

When I activated each card I was told that no payment would be required until after I got my first statement. Last month I had a statement for my first card, but not the second, so I only paid the bill on the first card. This month when I logged in to their website to view my statements, the second card had a $29.00 late fee. The late fee put me over my limit. So this month, instead of my minimum payment being $10, it was $65.05. Now, I always pay more than my minimum payment, but not that much more! I was less than pleased.
When I called their customer service department, I was informed that the first statement is not sent out until the day after the first due date. What kind of shit is that??
After raising enough of a fuss about it the representative I spoke to said that he could remove the late fee from my account after I paid the $65.05, and the $29 would just be credited back to my card, but that he could not remove the over-limit fee that resulted from the late fee.
I should have just paid the goddamned $10 last month when I thought about it and decided that since I didn't need to, I wouldn't.

Okay. Welcome back. Are you wondering what on earth that was? That is a Web Fire Escape. The whole point of it is to give you a quick way out, should you be reading my blog sometime/somewhere that you really should not be. If you go to their website you can even customize your easy out. You can set it up to go to a predetermined safe website (the default is Google), or even to open up a false MS Word or Excel document to make it look like you're actually doing something productive, instead of reading this crap.
How great is that idea? Of course, Alt+Tab also works, but this is more fun.
